Is any quality lost?
No. PNG bytes are embedded in the document untouched, with no re-encoding, so a screenshot in the PDF is pixel for pixel the screenshot you added.

What this tool does, exactly

- Puts your PNGs into one PDF in the order you set. The PNG data is embedded exactly as it is, with no re-encoding and no loss.
- Why A4 by default
- A screenshot is usually going into something that gets printed or attached to a form, and a document whose pages are all different shapes is awkward there. Match each image is one control away when you want the screenshot's own dimensions.
- Transparency
- A PNG's transparent areas become white in the PDF. There is no transparent paper, and a viewer that renders them dark would turn a diagram into a black rectangle.
About this tool
Why is my file so large?
Because PNG is lossless and screenshots of text compress badly. Ten full-screen captures can easily make a twenty-megabyte PDF. If size matters more than sharpness, save the images as JPG first and use the JPG to PDF page.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
They become white. A PDF page has no transparency, and leaving it undefined lets a dark-mode viewer render the page black with black text on it.
Can I mix PNGs with photos?
Yes — the tool accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and HEIC together. The only thing this page changes is where the page size starts.
